Haze Agent

Explainer videos

Explainer is a Haze Agent mode that draws a video from your own words instead of generating footage. Paste a script and it becomes a Vox-style explainer: maps that fly to the places you name, archival photos, number counters, charts and kinetic type, read in the voice you pick. It costs 1 credit per 5 seconds of video.

  1. 1

    Open the Explainer tab

Click Haze Agent in the sidebar, then the Explainer tab. "Title or topic" is optional — for example "Why the Suez Canal matters" — and names the project the video lands in.

  2. 2

    Paste the script

Each sentence becomes a beat. The line under the box shows the words, the beats and the estimated length as you type. An explainer can run up to the limit shown in the Settings row (2 minutes by default); a longer script is refused, never cut off silently.

  3. 3

    Add your own photos (optional)

Under "Your photos (optional, up to 4)" press Add photos or Choose from library: JPEG, PNG or WebP, up to 15 MB each. Then tick "I own these photos or have the rights to use them in a video" — Generate stays off until you do.

  4. 4

    Choose the aspect and voice

The Settings chips set the Aspect (9:16, 1:1 or 16:9) and the Voice; No narration makes a captions-only explainer. There is no Style or Quality to pick, because an explainer is drawn rather than generated.

  5. 5

    Check the price and generate

"What this will cost" shows the length, the beats and the credits at 1 credit per 5 seconds, rounded up. Press "Generate — N credits": the credits come off your balance now, and if the video is not made they are refunded.

Where the pictures come from

Maps come from Natural Earth. Photos are used only when a public-domain or CC0 one is found on Wikimedia Commons, or when you added your own. Numbers are shown only if they are in your script. A place name that could mean more than one place gets no map rather than a wrong one.

Every photo in the finished explainer is listed under Sources on its job card, with where it came from and its licence.

Billed on the finished length

The seconds in the quote are an estimate. When the explainer is done it is billed on its real length under the same rule; if it ran shorter, the difference goes back to your balance. You are never charged more than the quote, and an explainer that fails is refunded in full.

Good to know

  • Making an explainer needs a paid plan; pricing one is free on any plan.
  • The finished explainer lands in a new project, ready to clip, caption and post like any upload.
